Our Buddy

The whirlwhind that is my nephew, Isaac, came to stay with us for a whole week prior to the boy's bday! During that time, we learned the following:

1) You can in fact O.D. on teddy grahams.

2) You don't really need a nap to sustain a high octane energy level; and last,

3) You can watch the movie Cars in rapid succession without frying your brain.

We miss you I-man. Come back to play anytime!

Party Time!

I've never wished to stop the clock. But this past weekend was the first time I wish I could have slowed time down a bit. Not for long, but just a little teensy weensy minute or two. The boys turned one this week and we celebrated by having a Fourth of July shabang at our house. We had all the good stuff - hot dogs, coke, cupcakes, and a five-minute parade (honestly, it was way too hot for it to last any longer).

Thank you to everyone who shared the day with us! All our family who came into town for it and all our friends who forfeited their holiday plans to play with us! The boys loved all their gifts - in fact, the boys spent their Monday naps talking to each other about their new treasures. I let them gap for a while before I had to put a stop to it. Thank you everyone for making the day so special!!!!!!

First Birthday

It is official. The boys are now 1-year-old. Looking at these pictures it is hard to imagine them this small. Zach (left) weighed 5 lbs 4 oz. Jonah weighed 5 lbs. 1 oz. They were born at 2:00 pm and 2:01 pm on July 2, 2008, respectively. Aren't they the cutest things you've even seen? Zach on left. Jonah on right.

Thank you God for giving us Zach and Jonah. Even after a year, we are still amazed at your grace toward us in giving us two blessings that were not deserved and probably never will be. We are sill in awe at your hand, your timing, and your generosity.

Bed Head

Okay, these pictures crack me up.

First of all - this is how I spend most of my day...fending the boys out of the refrigerator.

Second, I spend a lot of time wrangling hair.

A lady at church last week told me I needed to get the boys' hair cut.

"It's time," she said, with great seriousness. I tried to supress my giggles.

I think it's kind of cute. I mean, I bet you can't help but smile when you look at the above photo.

Big Boys

We just finished painting our dining room last week - the paint sample said "Caramel Honey" but it turned out a little more marigold than we expected. We still like it though because it brightens things up a bit. Here are some shots during lunch - the boys are being so good and quiet.

Just sitting in their chairs, eating their peas. Being perfect little angels.

I mean, so what if brother got three more peas than the other one?

No complaints here. We're all content!

Zach: "Wait...did you say brother got more peas than me????"

Zach: "What kind of lunch-time trick is that? That's totally not fair.

Mom, we need to talk about this!!"

Zach: "Like...now....mom! MORE PEAS!!!!!!!"

Zach: "And don't even get me started on the correct twin-to-'puff' ratio."

Jonah: "What's a ratio?"

Countdown begins

The boys turn one in less than a week! I just can't believe that they are nearly one-year-old. I also can't believe they are crawling, climbling stairs, standing, saying mama and dada, and almost have four teeth! Where did this year go? I know you're hiding someplace, year 1! Come out, come out whereever you are!
