Boys in Paris

Four little boys (and a fifth on the way) is all kinds of crazy fun! During our visit to Paris, we did all the things cousins do. We dressed up like cowboys. We wrestled (or "ruffled" according to cuz Isaac). We talked with our mouths full. We bullied each other (some more than others). We raced our big wheelies. We hooped. We hollared. We roared like lions. We dug up dirt (and sometimes plants). We jumped in puddles. We got our shoes muddy. We sweated. We messed up our clothes. We appropriated electronic gadgets as treasures. And of course, we violently opposed our naps.

We never sat still, even for the one second required to get a good picture at the Sears Portrait Studio, costing our moms their pride in well-behaved children and Grammy a good picture of her grandsons. Being a boy in Paris is so much fun! Let's do it again soon, Isaac and Jude!

Bitten

Biting seems to be the game of choice these days...thankfully they only bite each other (and mom). No other innocent victims yet. Below is a sequence of photos I took in December. But don't feel too sorry for Jonah, he's got his own little set of fangs. You can click to enlarge slideshow.

Our First Barbie Party

Last weekend, Zach went to a Barbie Birthday part while bro. Jonah took a much-needed nap. But despite all the pink, the party was perfect for Zach because the birthday girl, Brie Dohner, came up with the plan for a Barbie Three Muskateers theme. Zach took home horses and swords as party favors...he doesn't think Barbie is half-bad!

Happy Birthday Brie! We hope you had a special day!

Just Say No

Perhaps we need to say "yes" a little more often to the boys. But it just seems that saying "no" comes so much easier. In fact, in just 18 months we've racked up quite an impressive list of what Jonathan and I consider to be "no-go" acitvities:

• No biting (each other or the dog)
• No throwing (toys or food)
• No messing with window blinds
• No using the dining room chairs as leverage to climb onto the table and thus swing from the chandelier (seriously).

But nothing tells us how often we say 'no' than the fact that we often catch one of the twins reprimanding his brother when a rule gets broken. Case in point - the video we posted below. I think Zach is also trying to 'spank' his brother.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Last night, the boys helped Jonathan celebrate his 33rd birthday.

They helped make a special cake - complete with homemade marshmallows on top.

And of course, they helped Dad eat it all up!

We love you "Dada" and hope you had a wonderful day! We love how you wrestle with us, help take care of us, make us scrambled eggs and sometimes share your ice cream. We hope year 33 is the best one yet, and we can't wait to spend it with you! Happy Birthday!

Christmas 2009

Christmas time came and went - a flurry of doctors visits, pharmacy runs, and drive-thru window passes. We've been sick each week since Thanksgiving, so we've spent the majority of our time huddled up at home, drinking tea and listening to Christmas music. We were scared we weren't going to be able to drive to Houston for the Deming Family Christmas, but we finally felt well enough to make the trip and we were so glad we did!

The boys had so much fun running around and wrestling with their cousins - Caleb, Bethany, and Joshua - and hanging all over anyone else who would hold them - Aunt Kay Kay, Aunt Kar Kar, and Nana! We enjoyed spending time together and having a special home church service led by Papooh on Sunday morning.

We chose to do gift giving a little different this year and it was a huge success! Instead of drawing names, we did a gift exchange. Each family brought 1 gift and then each family drew numbers and we selected gifts like a White Elephant party (stealing included). We also did a second gift exchange that was complelely White Elephant and I got to unload the Twilight Poster that I stole at our church party. Trust me gals...it was stolen a time or two at the Deming household too! ha! We had so much fun with the gift exchange - I hope we do it again next year!
