My friend from seminary (Casey Chappell) is an extremely gifted photographer. While we were home for Christmas we took advantage of the whole family being together and asked Casey to take our pictures. They turned out AMAZING! I can't wait to get my hands on some of them!

Faithbooking

Taking a page from http://scrapbookideas.wordpress.com/, I've decided to try out some Faithbooking - creating some scrapbook pages of Scripture passages that have proved meaningful to me.

This passage was on my daily planner - and as I made out my weekly grocery list it caught my eye. Overwhelmed by weekly events, it served as a soft reminder that ultimately there is Someone Larger who refreshes me as I plod along in daily tasks.

Personality Plus

Even at 6 months, we can already see the boys' personalities beginning to take shape.

Zacharias:
I've started thinking of Zachy as Mr. Business. When he eats, he is all about the task at hand. Eating only. And if disturbed or distracted, he gets pretty bent out of shape, which is quite often. We call those moments "Zachy meltdowns." He's certainly not a basketcase - he just likes things a certain way. He likes to be fed, held, and given attention at the precise moment he requests it. But he is the sweetest thing. When I talk to him, he pays close attention and smiles at me with the most loving eyes.

Jonah:
Jonah couldn't be more opposite. He is Mr. Party Animal. When he eats, he is easily distracted and loves to look around, talk to me, talk to his brother, or try to suck his thumb. And he is all about the fun. From the way he smiles, I can tell he is going to be the joker. I'm bracing myself for knock-knock jokes throughout toddlerhood. But in the meantime, when I talk to him, he smiles, crinkles up his eyes, and laughs as if I just told him a killer joke. It is great for my self-esteem.

In fact, between Jonathan and my two boys, I couldn't feel more loved. No matter what their personalities are like, I'd say that's pretty good.

Growing Pains ... for everyone else

I think I pulled a muscle in my eyebrow yesterday. I recently discovered that raising my eyebrows elicits giggles of delight from Zachy - and so my eyebrows have received quite a workout. Hence, the pulled muscle.

Mrs. Deming also pulled a muscle in her back recently. While visiting Nannie and Papooh last weekend, we showed her how Jonah likes to jump up and down in your lap. The entire weekend he spent jumping. So much so that we dubbed him 'Jumping Jonah.' Hope your back heals, Nannie!

This week the boys had their 6 month check-up. Here are some highlights:

• each received 6 vaccinations. pretty bad.


• each weighs about 16.5 lbs. pretty good.
  
• the doctor called them "strapping" boys. too cute.


• we're on phase 1 pureed foods and were given the green light for water in sippy cups. too cool.


• each was praised for their abdominal strength and showed off for the doc how they like to do crunches. too funny.

Christmas in North Carolina 2008

For Christmas, we traveled to North Carolina to visit my family. It was so much fun to share the boys with Grandaddy - who had not seen the boys since they were in the NICU!!! Everyone had fun trying to tell the boys apart - a challenge that lasted all week until we left.

And no - we didn't have triplets! The "other" little red-haired cutie is my niece, Gwendolyn Bess Moore. She is 4 mo. and the cutest little bug you've ever seen. The boys also enjoyed 'looking' at their cousin Isaac Elliott Wear. I say 'look' because poor Isaac had a cold. But we were able to take a few adorable photos of the whole mess of kids, and we are looking forward to next Thanksgiving when the boys can play outside together, throwing rocks and other 'guy' stuff. By then there will be another bear cub in the King clan - Jude Warren Wear!

Jonathan and Uncles Bri and Bruce had lots of time to galavant around Wake Forest - turning Walgreen's runs into a 4-hour trip. But no one is complaining because that meant more time for the girls to gab in the kitchen. I had so much fun hanging out around the table with my sisters Caroline and Heather and my Mom.

Thanks Mom and Dad for all you did to get ready for us. We loved every minute of it and only wished we could have stretched the minutes a little farther. The week went by far too quickly.
